What? Me worry? Never.

Who hasn’t spent a sleepless night, because you haven’t been able to turn off your brain? ‘What needs to get done tomorrow?’ ‘What should have gotten done today?’ ‘When will I finish my holiday shopping?' A new adding factor is that the proliferation of smart phones and computers keep our minds turned on 24-7. COVID 19 has certainly increased our worries too, to a level never seen before. There’s almost no escaping the stressors of the world or a chance to tune out.

Buddhists call it Monkey Mind. It means the mind is fluctuating, inconstant, or vacillating. The same thoughts keep going around and around in your mind and feel like it can’t or won’t stop. Getting upset that the wheels keep turning, just make it worse. Sound familiar? Even if you have a pretty easy life, quieting the mind can seem almost impossible.

Luckily, emphasizing some tasty foods in your diet will help you shut off your brain.

Foods that can help lift your spirits include...

Apricots, oranges, mango, brown, red, or wild rice, oats, spelt, mochi, squash, turnip, carrots, rutabaga, parsnips, black beans, peas, sweet potato, yam, pumpkin, garbanzo beans, leeks, ginger, black pepper, onion, cinnamon, fennel, garlic, and nutmeg.

Eating these nourishing items (either on their own or in a recipe) will give you more energy, contribute to weight loss, and help you calm your mind. If you haven’t tried any in a while, be adventurous and put one on your next shopping list!

Live natural. Live well.
